National Vocational Qualifications
We are one of only a few companies with a government contract to award National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). These are nationally recognised qualifications in retail, hospitality, business administration and customer services, and it is our intention to offer NVQs in cleaning and support services such as accountancy and security in the future.
In addition to NVQs, we offer Foundation Modern Apprenticeships and Advanced Modern Apprenticeships for those aged 16-24.
Occupational Safety and Health
Sodexo was also one of the first food and facilities management services companies to be given a licence to introduce the Occupational Safety and Health qualification. This is a structured qualification for managers and Sodexo Healthcare is extremely proud of its 100% pass rate. As well as this qualification, we offer CIEH in Ireland and RIPHH for food safety.
Awarding bodies
We also recognise, and work closely with, various awarding bodies. These include City and Guilds, BIFM (British Institute of Facilities Management), LANTRA (grounds maintenance and agriculture), HCIMA (hotel and catering), CORGI (gas installation), IET (engineering and technology), HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), CIPD (personnel), CIMA (finance and accounting), CIM (marketing) and BPS (OPP).
Specific training
In other areas of the business, specific training is provided where appropriate. This includes the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, Managing & Supervising Cleaning, Infection Control, Security Licensing, Fork Lift Truck Driving, Working at Heights, First Aid, Manual Handling and Risk Assessment.
Finally, through the partnerships we have fostered with vocational schools and universities, we can provide funding and sponsorship, including study leave, for professional development qualifications.
